And to All a Goodnight

‘Twas the night of Christmas and all thru the house not a creature was stirring not even a mouse.

The stockings were emptied, the presents all opened.

From simple to sparkling,

we added beauty to our surroundings.

IMG_7026

To celebrate the season we shared our recipes, our family traditions our homes and our faith.

IMG_7040

So I thank you for allowing me to be a part of the blogging community and your lives.

but  today I opened a gift that became it’s crowning glory. First I tried it on the bunny, but he agreed it would be best on the tree.

Thank you Nancy for a crown fit for a Princess.

So from our family to yours may the spirit of Christmas live in your heart until this time next year.

For Christmas - Give A Heart

Are you finished with your shopping, presents wrapped? Then it must be time to sit down for dinner.

I pulled out my Mary Englebreit dishes from years ago to set the table.

IMG_6948

I have four plates and two sizes of candy dishes. I paired them with red chargers, a gift from my friend Terri and Christopher Stuart Batalha White dinner plates.

IMG_6977

Candy canes, English poppers and jingle bell wreaths accent the place settings.

IMG_6879

Luckily candy canes come in flavors other than mint.

IMG_6890

IMG_6886

The napkin rings are tree ornaments that have never been near the tree.

IMG_6891

Are you thirsty after your long day? Water and a frosty martini in green depression glass.

IMG_6878

Another piece holds a candle in the snow for the centerpiece.

Santa seems to have lost one of his boots.

Dinner is ready. Sauted asparagus, and Chicken Marsala over mashed potatoes. For dessert vanilla ice cream with dark chocolate or caramel sauce. Yummm.

After dinner we can curl up on the sofa in the ME quilt and watch a Christmas movie.

IMG_6975

Don’t forget to leave milk & cookies out for Santa.

IMG_6987

Remember - the most important gift to give for Christmas is your heart. The gift that needs no wrapping paper, ribbons or bows is always the right gift.

IMG_6879

May you and your family have a blessed Christmas.

Santa on the Stairs

Ho Ho Ho and Merry Christmas.

IMG_6967

I've decorated with my pencil Santas many places thru the years, but I believe the staircase in this house is their favorite.

IMG_6899

The pink polka dotted chair is visiting from the living room as the Christmas tree is in its usual spot. I draped it with a quilt designed by Kaye England from a couple of years ago – Bread & Butter Christmas.

IMG_6900

It has lots of stars - so lots of  flying geese. I made the border wider and added stars in the corners.

IMG_6900

It is the perfect size to drape over the chair.

IMG_6907

The bookcase was shifted and the corner piece moved to the other side to make room for the chair.

Multi-colored Snowflake Sparkle Tablescape

I thought I had lots of time between Thanksgiving and Christmas, but somehow time has once again gone much too quickly. Although the table has been set for a week I am just now getting to blogging about it.

I set it for a cheerful brunch with girlfriends, but was not feeling very cheery after the events of last week. My heart goes out to those in their loss. May the Lord give them comfort and strength. May he hold them in his arms as he is holding those who are now in his presence.

As I was working on it, Emma decided she should be quality control.

IMG_6629

I came back into the room to see she was tasting the ivy plant. She thought that it was a great appetizer. Luckily, she is very graceful so my antique stemware was safe.

IMG_6640

I fell in love with the multi-colored snowflake material when it came into Bolts. I knew it would make for a cheerful table.

IMG_6701

IMG_6676

I found the placemats at Target. The only other new item was Emma’s snack - the ivy topiary from Trader Joe's.

IMG_6700

My favorite white chargers.

IMG_6699

I last used the red plates for my Oh Canada tablescape.

The tree place card holders are from Pier 1 few years ago. I used two of the four colors.

When I took the pictures last week the sun was shining.

IMG_6669

Today it’s raining (yeah!), so the candles would definitely be needed.

I leave you with this poem I found online.

Snowflakes falling from the sky
Help remind us exactly why

Christmas came so long ago
Cleansing the earth like each new snow

One pure, unique, and perfect form,
Who came to earth to withstand the storm.
Each snowflake melts as does the ice,
But we can’t forget the sacrifice;

So display this symbol of the season
To recollect what gives us reason
One pure, unique and perfect form,
Who came to earth to transcend the storm.
